This photo was taken at the World War II Memorial in Washington DC the weekend before the inauguration on January 20, 2017. Politics aside, I will merely state that I used some split-toning in this photo: Orange in the highlights and blue in the shadows. It’s been a while since I brought in some judicious split-toning. It’s one of the things I started experimenting with when I got my first DSLR and felt that it really helped my work stand out among the growing din of digital photographers. Although this photo had some great contrast and colors to begin with, I think adding the warm highlights vs. cool shadows helps punch it up.
